the TOP 14 things that helped me grow my stampin up business

For all the ideas please join boot camp http://groups.yahoo.com/group/LNSBootCamp/
it's only 8 cents a day

I put GOD and FAMILY first

I surround myself with POSITIVE uplifting people

I share what I love with those around me

I set goals that help me stretch

I pray like everything is up to God and I go to work like everything is up to me
I do my BEST and let GOD do the rest

Here are the things that have worked for me
May you be blessed to try the ones that you feel would work for you as well

1. I have often thought that some of the most common little things in
our lives
are the minutes that pass in each hour of the day. For each human being,
time is
indeed an indispensable resource. It can neither be ignored nor altered.
We are
compelled to spend it at a fixed rate of 60 minutes every hour. No spigot
can be
installed to regulate its flow, and no refilling device can replenish
its quantity.

The question is not one of managing the clock, but one of
managing
ourselves with respect to the time we have.
Each minute is a
little thing
and yet, with respect to our personal productivity, to manage the minute
is the
secret of success.
assignment 1.) Take the time to identify eight 15 minute blocks of time
in each
day for the entire week.
Important little things that merit our attention are the small acts of
service we
perform for our fellowmen
Do you take the time to remember some of the simple courtesies that are
so important
in relationships with others? Do you remember the smile, the compliment,
the positive
note, and the word of encouragement? We should do these important little
things without hesitation.

assignment 2.) Make a list of the people you associate with. Start with
the people you
see and talk to each and every day. Next make a list of the people you
would see each
week like your child's teacher, the teller at the bank, your postman and
the waitress
at your favorite restaurant. Then make a list of the people you haven't
seen or spoken
to in a while and would like to take the time to just say hello and
see how they are
doing.

Each day add to that list of people, if you add 5-10 people
to the
list each day you will have added 150-300 people each month!

that is a minimum of 1,800 a year!
just think if you contacted 5 people each day and talked a tiny bit about
your
stampin up business
how many of them would become customers?
If YOU were on their mind each time they needed something... don't you
think you
would get the sale over the nearest big box store?

It's easier to turn people you already know into customers than to find
new customers.
Do what you can to offer your services to the friends you already have!

Spencer W. Kimball said:
“I have learned that it is by serving that we learn how to serve.
When we are engaged in the service of our fellowmen, not only do our deeds
assist
them, but we put our own problems in a fresher perspective. When we concern
ourselves
more with others, there is less time to be concerned with ourselves.

So often, our
acts of service consist of simple encouragement or of giving mundane help with
mundane
tasks, but what glorious consequences can flow from mundane acts and from small
but
deliberate deeds! … God does notice us, and he watches over us. But it
is usually
through another person that he meets our needs. Therefore, it is vital
that we serve
each other in the kingdom”

assignment 3) Create an assortment little Hello or Thank you cards large
enough to
hold a business card.
The perfect card example is on page 194 in your Stampin Up catalog.
A solid colored
cardstock stamped with a background stamp in the same color. A die cut
heart, a
punched out heart, and the words thank you. I would use our word window
punch to cut
out the words thanks so much on page 139, or the words thank you from page
141, or the
words thinking of you, thank you or just for you from the teeny tiny wishes set on
page 145.
Use slit punch #42 on page 187 to make a place inside to hold your business card.

If you believe in God you will appreciate these words
“But behold I say unto you, that by small and simple things are great things brought
to pass”

It's the little thing you do or don't do that will make a big difference in these
assignments.
The little things you do today when combined with what you do each week, will grow
your team and build your business.

Once you make your little cards keep them with you and give them out throughout the
week. If you wish to make a big impact you will need a large quantity of these cards.
Remember to keep them simple!!!! We will be using these cards in other ways later on.
At the end of each day look over your list of people from assignment 2 and mark the
ones you gave thank you cards to.

_____

2.
“Do more of what works and less of what doesn't” Could anything be more plain than
this? Do not let the simplicity of this strategy make you doubt it.
If you are feeling that your business is stagnate or stale, stop and rediscover the
techniques you used in times past when you were initially building your business
relationships. With few exceptions, they will still work.

assignment 4) Go back to the list of people you made in the first days assignments.
If you don't already have your past and present customers on the list, add them.
You can also add people in groups like Teachers that go to school with my children,
or members in my women's club etc.

Most of us enjoy being around someone who builds us up and makes us feel good. Using
words of encouragement, love, respect, courtesy , appreciation,
admiration, and gratitude as we talk with one another
will motivate us
to spend more time together.

REMEMBER
Most relationships die from neglect.

assignment 5) Think of things you can do that will rekindle your relationships
.
Take the time to think about ways we can touch the lives o f those around us.
Write them down and work on them.
Each day you may add to your prayers "Help me to touch the life of others in a
positive way. Help me to be inspired to know who to reach out to and who to serve.
Then keep track of the little things you do so you can watch your progress.

How much do you know about them?
Plan to spend time together. What do they like to do?
How many of the people you have listed enjoy activities like stamping or scrapbooking?
How many of them enjoy spending their lunch time with friends?
How many enjoy a weekly Friday Night activity?
What are their hobbies? Do you know their favorite color? Do you know anything about
their children? Do you know what the names of their pets are?

assignment 6)Take the time to write a little "Getting to know you" survey
Ask only 5-10 questions .... Keep it simple

Questions may include:
When is the last time you went to lunch with a friend?
What is your favorite place to eat and why?
What kinds of greeting cards do you find most needed? example: thank you, birthday,
holiday cards
What is your favorite childhood memory?
If you had more free time each day what new hobby would acquire?
What do you like to do when your family gets together?
Would you mind sharing your favorite family recipe?

assignment 7) send this "Getting to know you" survey to your friends
See how many reply.
Send this out using e-mail
Then, make a little 1/2 page flyer and pass it out at each event,
make sure you add a place for their name and phone #

People you know will be happy to give you this information if you make it fun and
less like business.
If you are all about business and you want to get more of these surveys back add a
line on the bottom that each returned survey will be adding into your monthly drawing.
The prize could be as simple as some dies cut from your big shot.

assignment 8) add one more fun event to this weeks calendar
The answers to your survey will help yo u see what type of activity to add.
A no brainer is to add a card making activity if you added the question, What kinds
of greeting cards do you find most needed? example: thank you, birthday, holiday cards
to your survey.

Assignment 9) e-mail "Save this date" invitations to your friends (with photos)

Please mark your calendar for August 26th for a Thank YOU card making activity.
We will be making quick and easy card and project. Please bring your adhesive.
It's FREE to everyone who brings a friend.
When they come give the survey flyer out to all new guests so they can enter your
monthly drawing as well.
Time and place of the event add your name and phone # as well.

One of the thank you cards you make can be the one you made on day 1.
Consider the little thank you gifts, for ideas look in the NEW Stampin Up catalog.
Have them make one card and one gift bag, that is it! You don't even need to give
them anything to put into it.
If you wish to have a better turn out, e-mail photos of what you will be making.

Keep your events short and sweet

I had a friend say to me on two different occasions, "my husband will be happy that
I'm getting home early"
It was only 8pm and he didn't expect me until 9:30

I have noticed she is coming more often now that our events are only 2 hours including
driving time!
I challenge you to make your "Getting to know you" events quick, easy and often!

Don't forget At the end of each day look over your list of people from assignment 2
and mark the ones you gave thank you cards to.
Try to give a thank you card to every person on your list. If you can't give a card
to them in person send them one made with my digital studio!

Acknowledge EVERY person on your list in one way or another!

_____

3.Do what you can - Just Ask
We don’t have to be better than someone else. All we have to do is to be the very best
we can.
We don’t have to be fast; we simply have to be steady and move in the
right direction.
We have to do the best we can, one step after another regardless
of your disabilities, limitations, or insecurities.
_____________

Most motivation on the part of a customer, potential downline or current downline
member has to be tied to a need.
Identify the needs of your customers and downline so you can help them find the
answers to their questions and problems.
The best way to find out if they have a need is to ask.

assignment 10) Send an e-mail to your customers asking "How can I help you"
what gift giving and greeting card needs will you have over the next few months?

We are all engaged in the process of finding and retaining new customers
Customers and Downline members need an opportunity to serve.

assignment 11)
Add another getting to know you event to your calendar and invite your customers.
This time, have your customers bring what they have made last week to this weeks
event. Have them display their works of art with yours. Thank everyone who brought
samples to share.
Have your customers bring a small 3X3 card project to share. As your customers get
used to sharing in the work they will be helping you as well as getting valuable
training to become a demonstrator one day.
Compliment them on the things they do well, be sincere.

assignment 12) Write an e-mail to them after each event and thank them personally for
their help. Let them help a few times always thanking them for sharing their talent.
If they continue to show an interest in helping ask them to host a workshop or event.
Remind them that they can have their event in a restaurant or library if they don't
wish to use their home.

assignment 13) After every workshop ask the hostess to join your team. Have faith in
your products and your abilities.
Don't be afraid of offending somebody. Just ask!
Continue to work with those who express interest even if they have declined your
offer.
Most of the time they are unsure of their abilities and need a little more
encouragement.
______________

It is important to remember that we need to succeed—not just finish the course
On this upward and sometimes hazardous journey, each of us meets our share of daily
challenges.
If we are not careful, as we peer through the narrow lens of self-interest,
we may feel that life is bringing us more than our fair share of trials—that somehow
others seem to be getting off more lightly.
The tests of life are tailored for our own best interests, and all will face the
burdens best suited to their own mortal experience. In the end we will realize that
God is merciful as well as just and that all the rules are fair. We can be reassured
that our challenges will be the ones we needed, and conquering them will bring
blessings we could have received in no other way.

Many of you know "My Story"
if not... here it is
My story- Sherrill Graff

I became a demo in 1991. I just wanted to buy stamps for my daughter at a discount.
I soon realized stamping wasn't just for kids.

When I started doing it as a business I borrowed stamp sets from my upline.
(Who happens to be Shelli Gardner Co-Founder of Stampin Up)

I'd make samples and then return the stamps and she would give me more to use.
I was in Heaven! My business began to grow and I became an upline myself.

My first recruit is Loni Spendlove. She is still active and has a good downline
of her own. My second recruit is my Twin sister Michele Hillam.

Michele was the very first demonstrator in the Denver Colorado area she also has a
wonderful downline.

The real challenges started right after our youngest son was born. His middle name
is Sterling after Sterling Gardner Shelli's husband. He was 3 months old when my Dear
Husband Mark (only 34 years old) had his first heart attack.

I promised God if he would save my husbands life I would be a good person and raise a
righteous family. After 5 bypass surgery and 6 months of recovery he was back to
himself again.

Thank God for HUGE blessings. I sold all my stamps and my husband sold a gun or two
to help pay the bills. (He is a hunter) The stamps sold for 80% of retail so it was
like having an extra savings account I didn 't know about. It's nice to know they hold
their value. Our parents hel ped too. We both have wonderful giving parents.
We had help from the church and the community programs to provide Christmas for our
Dear Children.

3 years later my husband had another heart attack with Angioplasty. I thank God for
modern medicine! We sold everything again to help pay the bills. Our parents helped us
out again. We also had some help for Christmas this year as well.

3 years after that Mark had developed an aneurysm on one of his bypasses.
It was like living with a time bomb wondering if this was they day he wouldn't return
home from work. Soon after, he had yet, another heart attack!

This time we were waiting in the surgery waiting room when the doctor came out and
said "there is nothing I can do" My mother in law and I looked at each other and
started to cry thinking he was gone. The doctor said "oh, let me rephrase that,
there is nothing I NEED to do! You have been given a miracle!"

Marks aneurysm was no longer a threat, it had clotted itself off. The artery they had
bypassed in the first place had opened itself back up and his heart has grown 2 little
veins that were feeding the back part of his heart. (Something that doesn't usually
happen to heart patients until they are in their 50's)

We have truly been blessed!

God has stood by us, our families have stood by us, our friends have stood by us,
Stampin Up has been there when I could do it and on the back burner when I couldn't.
We are all healthy and happy. I thank Stampin Up for the wonderful Heart Set that
raised such a nice donation for the Heart Association!

So you may ask why I give away stamps every Christmas? I have been doing it for years.
It's so nice to share what I have. It's my little way of Thanking God,
Thanking family and friends, and thanking Stampin Up for the joy they have brought
to my life.

I am so glad I joined so many years ago. And just think, I signed up just for the
discount!

The rest of the story. Now it's 2009 Mark just went in and had 2 stents put in. The
vessel that was giving him problems was 95% blocked, that vessel fed 2/3rds of his
heart. No wonder he was having so much pain all the time.

I believe God gave us another Miracle.

Had Mark waited any longer he may have had a fatal heart attack.

Kenneth Sterling the baby at the beginning of our story is now 14 years old and
almost 6 feet tall! We do have 2 daughters, 2 sons and a dear son in law.

Mark and I went to Hawaii compliments of Stampin Up in March of 2009. We celebrated
our 25th wedding anniversary in August.
I am so thankful for all of our blessings, for a great family and wonderful friends
like you.

In life we all have our times of testing and growth. These trials are necessary.
They are growth experiences.
Why is adversity often such a good schoolmaster?
What are some blessings we continue to have even during the most severe adversity?
Why did our trials help us grow and become strengthened?
How can adversity be for our good?

Adversity has show me it is necessary to overcome obstacles we face.
Adversity also reminds me to count my blessings.

assignment 14) Write your story and publish it on your group or blog and send it to
your friends and customers.
When we share feelings of gratitude we inspire others to do the same.

This is so you will know all the assignments for the first week of boot camp

for the entire week.
This will help you see that you can make time to do extra little things that will make

This will help you identify past, present, and potential customers. It will also allow
you to focus on who may be being neglected.

assignment 3) Create an assortment little Hello or Thank you cards large enough to
hold a business card.
This is just fun and a great way to show kindness20as well as let people know who
you are and what you do.
It also shows you that you can find good samples to copy right in our own catalog!

assignment 4) Go back to the list of people you made in the first days assignments.
If you don't already have your past and present customers on the list, add them. Add
current e-mails to this list if you are missing them.

assignment 10) Send an e-mail to your customers asking "How can I help you"

This will promote good will and encourage them to participate again in the future.

assignment 13) After every workshop ask the hostess to join your team. Have faith
in your products and your abilities. Most hostesses have workshops 1-4 times a year.
This will help them consider joining our team 1-4 more times this year. Many will say
yes, and some will say, no (which may means not yet)
assignment 14) Write your story and publish it on your group or blog and send it to
your friends and customers.
This should help your customers get to know you better. It should inspire them as
well as give you common ground.

Write a comment after each assignment while keeping track of your progress during
the week.
Then, on Friday send me an e-mail telling me how you did. I will adjust the
assignments for the week depending how the majority of you are doing.
Thanks for working hard to develop your business.

Thank you for a wonderful week with stampin up friends - so glad to have you a pert of our Late Night Stamper family

Our trip here to salt lake city for the week of convention has been wonderful so far!!! I'm so pleased at how well everything went for the past two days here at the Radisson for our pre-convention events and I have to credit that success to a wonderful supportive team of demonstrators who share what they LOVE!

We had a opportunity to present 3 LNS Heart awards
one went to Ilene Meckly for sharing from the heart. Her inspiration and motivation will go on to help so many of us who attended her training events.
get-attachment.jpg
http://www.ilenemeckley.com/

The other two gals who were presented with the LNS heart awards were Bev Pennick and Rosemarie Gonzales
Each love and share with other members of the group and are so passionate about giving service and giving sincere praise to others.

YOU are wonderful and so deserving of this necklace, a necklace that means so much more to each of us here at LNS!
Thank you for your service

I'm off to take a shower in hopes that it will relax me enough that I will be able to go back to bed....
Did I tell you about HOW EXCITED I AM FOR TOMORROW?
We get to go to the convention center, check in and receive our new convention bags with all the goodies in them!
We also get a opportunity to jump into the express momento mall line because of the blessing from adding a new team member this week.
and .... I get to go to the awards booth to see what sorts of fun gifts await me there!!! whoo hoo

I also get to go see my Service Account manager Terri who worked hard all year to serve me and help my business grow!

I'd love to take this opportunity to thank my dear family for their love and support without whom I would not be experiencing this great event!!!!! Thank you for all the encouragement to get out and meet new people. Thanks for cooking meals so I can use that time to work my business! Thanks for doing my household chores so I can go do workshops and sell product. Thanks mostly for loving me and allowing me to do something I feel so passionately about, I love the people I serve in this business like they were my very own family. Thank you for sharing me with all of them.
It's great to hear how just a little extra kindness goes a long way!!!
I can be a better person because you bless my life so very much.

love, Sherrill (wife and mother and grandmother to little Ava)

There is over 82,000 samples of fantastic Stampin Up Artwork on Stampin Connection.
Stampin Connection is only available for Demonstrators, Join my team today.
It's easy, it's Fun and there is no obligation to continue if you find it's not for you.

No pressure .... most demonstrators love the discount they get so much that they decide to remain a Hobby demonstrator. (Hobby demonstrators buy for themselves and they family members without going out and doing workshops or events)
I did that for quite a few years until our children got a little older and I am able to spend more time away from home showing others how to stamp.
It's a great part time job with full time income!
You can have your hobby pay half of your household bills as well. Check out my website for more information.
