  • Two Step Stampin'
Stamp the first image with VersaMark and then the second with an Encore metallic pad. Technique looks best on darker, richer tone card stocks (i.e. Bravo Burgundy, Handsome Hunter).
  • Embossing
Use the VersaMark pad like you would any of our pigment ink pads in your embossing projects. Because VersaMark is a clear ink, you can use the embossing powder color of your choice without the color of the pigment pad showing through the embossed powder.
  • Embossing with Classic pads
Ink and stamp with one of our Classic Stampin' Pads. Clean the stamp and then ink the same image with VersaMark, stamping directly over the image. Apply clear embossing powder and heat with embossing tool. Note: For best results, use the Stamp-a-ma-jig stamp positioner to help line up the image stamped with Classic pads and the embossed image.
  • Embossing on Glass
Prior to stamping, rub the Embossing Buddy over the stamping surface. Stamp the image on a glass container with the VersaMark pad and then emboss with detail gold or silver for an elegant touch to any piece of glassware. Note: This technique is recommended for decorative purposes only. Embossed images can scratch off or come off when washed.
  • Poppin' Pastels
Stamp the image with the VersaMark ink pad on a piece of neutral colored card stock (Whisper White, Very Vanilla, etc.). Apply Stampin' Pastels with sponge daubers, stamping sponge or pastel applicator directly to the ink.
  • Resist
Stamp on Glossy White card stock with the VersaMark pad. Ink up the rubber brayer in a Classic or Spectrum pad and repeatedly roll over the card stock. Wherever the VersaMark ink was stamped, the card stock resists the colored ink from the brayer. Note: This technique can also be done with a Gold Encore pad.
  • Emboss Resist
Stamp an image with VersaMark ink and emboss with Crystal Clear embossing powder. When the image is cool, sponge one or more colors of Classic ink over and around embossed image. The stamped image will resist the ink.
  • Reverse Pastels
Apply Stampin' Pastels (bright colors work best) to a dark colored card stock (Basic Black, Night of Navy, Close to Cocoa, etc.) and then stamp over the chalked area. The ink pulls off the color of the chalk, revealing the paper beneath. Be sure to clean the stamp before re-inking as the chalk you removed is now on your stamp and will dirty your VersaMark pad.
  • Watermark
Create a great tone-on-tone effect by stamping on a piece of colored card stock. The image appears a deeper shade than the card stock and is perfect for subtle backgrounds.

I challenge You to try this technique - Stampin Up Idea

BABY WIPE TECHNIQUE

Directions:

1) Squeeze a few drops of ink on a baby wipe; the moistened material absorbs the colors and creates a one-of-a-kind ink pad.

2) Stamp your image.

3) For another approach, gently swipe the wipe over your card stock to create a multicolored background.

Making Greeting Cards for the Troops, for the Church, for the elderly, for the kids

Yesterday morning I read: Council with the Lord in all thy doings and he will direct thee for good.
Last night before going to bed I read: Give heed to the compass, the words of Christ.

I believe as we follow the Lord and do as he did, we will have peace and joy in this life. Our life will have greater meaning and purpose.

We show our love by service
How many times has your heart been touched as you have witnessed the need of another? How often have you intended to be the one to help? And yet how often has day-to-day living interfered and you’ve left it for others to help, feeling that “oh, surely someone will take care of that need.”

“Find someone who is having a hard time or is ill or lonely, and do something for him or her.

Who needs us?

Our families need us, our loved ones, our friends...
Our Churches and our schools need us
Our neighbors need us

What do we have to give? We have time to show we care, time to teach others a fun hobby, time to work together to bless the lives of others.
We have talent, we can show how easy it is to make a inexpensive card or project out of paper. We can teach others to do the same. As we share what we love, WE MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

Supplies, start by using your retired items for Charity events, then as the people you meet come to know you and your heart they will offer to help you with the cost of supplies. I have seen this many times.
We used to do free card classes for the Cambridge Sr Center, then seeing our dedication and knowing times are tight, they started paying $1 per card. This more than paid for our supplies. We may be breaking even on supplies, but our time has blessed not only the people we serve but has blessed our lives richly.

Doing card classes help us get to know many people who would never know about our workshops. Going into recreation centers, libraries, churches, girl scout houses, and pre schools, get us out in front of people, lots of people!

By adding 2 Charity card making events to you calendar each month, you can meet 20-60 new people each month.
You can bless their lives.
I have seen many people with big hearts start by volunteering to make cards for the kids, becoming customers, to joining my team.
If we meet 60 new people each month, we will have met 720 new people in a year!
If they each make 2 cards and keep one and give the other away with your contact information on the back you have just touched the lives of 720 MORE people. (you can take the cost of supplies off your taxes as advertising)

Do you think that in 1,440. people you could find a few new customers, and a few new team members who wish to do what you do? I have and they have blessed my life as well as helped our family earn more income to pay our household bills.

In the past few years that I have trying to Pray for help with my business and have tried to follow the direction I have been given by his spirit, my circle of friends have increased dramatically, my sales have doubled and my team continue to grows strong.

I thank God for answered prayers, I thank him for blessing my life, for helping me see a need and do something about it!
It's amazing what a card can do to brighten up someone's day!

Serve a Church
Turn a service project into a fun activity is to provide refreshments and some structure to encourage socializing and fellowshipping.
• We have had socials where the entire church membership has been invited to meet new members, less-active members, investigators, and those who have recently moved into the area. The guests of honor are then introduced to the group.
• We bake cookies and make greeting cards, and then we break into small groups to deliver these items to less-active members or members who need a little cheering up.

Serve a Retirement Home

Yesterday before buying a graduation gift for our son, my husband and I went to visit a new friend. She is a dear lady 87 years of age in fairly good heath, living in a small apartment with her son who is bed ridden and her grand son.
(I went to school to be a cosmetologist but since then have always been a stay at home mom. I found stampin up and have been a Work at home mom every since.)
I was given the opportunity to cut her hair and put it in rollers for her as a trade for a massage her granddaughter would do for me at our next scrapbook crop.
I would have never known how much our act of service meant to her had I not taken the time to go and serve.
Service Helps us feel good

We can go into retirement homes and Sr Centers and Make cards with them.
Many of them still send out Snail Mail cards to their loved ones.

We can also help by teaching them to scrapbook their memories with simple page layouts to put their photos on.

Serve the Troops

Martie Shea shares what she loves

Martie Shea shows how she’s made some of the blank cards she sends to troops so they have access to cards to send home to loved ones. (Photo by Julie Smith/News Tribune)

Without a Hallmark store nearby, soldiers serving half a world away have few options to send a special message home.

Skype, e-mail and cell phones have made this the most connected military era when it comes to soldiers and their families keeping in touch.

However, the sentiments attached to selecting and sending a tangible card on happy occasions or in times of hardship remain.

When Martie Shea's son was deployed in Iraq, she sent him one of her Stampin' Up card creations for his 40th birthday. Buddies in his unit were in disbelief when he told them his mom had made it.

So Shea sent a box of these hand-cut and hand-decorated blank cards to his unit. Her son said they were grateful because “the cards there are not many, picked over, and dirty and dusty because Iraq is dirty and dusty.”

Then Shea got an idea, spurred by part of the Stampin' Up statement “love what you do and share what you love.”

Since April 2008, Shea has sent more than 1,800 cards, with the help of her card-making community, as Stampin' from the Heart for the Troops.

And now she is inviting the public to help.

From 1-3:30 p.m. Sunday at the Missouri River Regional Library in Jefferson City, Shea will have precut cards ready for community members to assemble for the troops. This will be a monthly opportunity.

“We're providing the supplies,” said Susan Troxel, who helps with the project. “We just need the hands to do the assembly.”

Read more of this feature in Friday's e-Edition. CLICK HERE! See the Local section (page 7).

Step 1 ) See the need
Step 2) Find a place to hold the event
Step 3) Gather Volunteers
Step 5) Prepare the supplies
Step 6) Hold the event and take photos to use to help advertise your next event.
Step 7) Follow up by collecting contact information or adding people to your mailing list... Make sure every participant gets a link to your blog
make sure you have your full name on your blog, Plenty of interesting articles and a link to your stampin up website.
Step 8) Plan your next event
